5-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing – Marangu Route

5-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing – Marangu Route

Overview

Experience the adventure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, on this exciting 5-Day Kilimanjaro Climbing Marangu Route with Cami Safari and Tours. The Marangu Route is one of the most popular routes on Mount Kilimanjaro and is often known as the “Coca-Cola Route.” It is the only Kilimanjaro route that offers overnight accommodation in mountain huts rather than tents, making it a comfortable option for trekkers who prefer hut accommodation. This 5-day itinerary takes you through several distinct vegetation zones, from lush rainforest to moorland and alpine desert, before reaching the snow-covered summit of Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres above sea level. The trek is suitable for travelers looking for a shorter Kilimanjaro climbing experience. However, because this is a relatively short itinerary, proper preparation, physical fitness, and good acclimatization are important.

How to Get There

  • The climb starts and ends in Moshi or Arusha.
  • You can fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
  • Airport transfers to and from your hotel can be arranged.

From there, we continue along the crater rim toward Stella Point and then proceed toward the summit. Our ultimate goal is Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa. Important Information

The Marangu Route is the only Kilimanjaro route that uses mountain huts for overnight accommodation. The huts provide a more sheltered alternative to camping, although climbers should still be prepared for cold temperatures at higher elevations. The 5-day Marangu itinerary has a relatively limited acclimatization schedule compared with longer Kilimanjaro routes. For this reason, climbers should take altitude seriously and follow the guidance of their mountain guide throughout the trek. Proper preparation is essential. We recommend bringing suitable hiking boots, warm layers, waterproof clothing, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a headlamp, and other essential trekking equipment. Cami Safari and Tours can provide or arrange trekking equipment rental for travelers who prefer not to purchase or carry all their equipment from home. For travelers who prefer more time for acclimatization, the 6-Day Marangu Route or longer Kilimanjaro routes such as Machame, Lemosho, or Rongai can be arranged.
